Volunteer FAQS

Volunteer slots are filled by all ages, beginning with responsible older students to all seasons of adulthood. Sierra Leone.-based volunteers are not required to have attended a prior Summit. Global guests must have attended a prior Summit.
No! Registration is our gift to full-time volunteers.

Each volunteer will be assigned to a particular volunteer team for the slots he/she is available (and according to his/her interest). We ask volunteers to be available to their team for any days they are on-site. While we consider volunteering an all-in experience, each role has multiple “free times” throughout the day where volunteers can join any Summit session.

Over the coming months, the volunteer coordinators will match your available times and interests with a volunteer team. (See above for various teams.) They will send you details for your role a few weeks in advance. A virtual or in-person orientation time will be set closer to the event.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We know there’s a lot going on at the MAM Summit and want to answer some common questions.

Thank you for our MAM2023 Summit Host Church: Hope City Empowerment Church, 35 Upper Gassama Street, Calabatown/Wellington, Freetown. Sierra Leone.

If you have a heart/calling towards orphans and vulnerable children the MAM Summit is for you! Workshops will include themes specifically designed for pastors, church lay leaders, non-profit staff and leadership, adoptive/foster parents, child welfare professionals, and individuals looking for more information on orphan care ministry.

Come alone or with others? Many prefer to have more than one person attend the MAM Summit. With the broad range of concurrent workshops, multiple attendees can take home a fuller range of information. Many ministries use conference networking and meal breaks to begin shaping a plan and ideas for further ministry once they return home. In addition, two or more attendees often return home with a deepened relationship and vision that can form the foundation for future ministry.

We ask that children (excluding infants) under the age of 13 not attend unless with parental supervision. The program is not designed for young children. Mature youth with a heart and vision for ministry may register at the special student rate, email mam2023summit@gmail.com  to find out more. There will be no KIDS Summit this year.

What Precaution are you taking regarding COVID-19 at this event?
The safety and health of everyone at MAM2023 is a top priority.

MAM continues to closely monitor the status of COVID along with state and MINISTRY OF HEALTH guidelines. We are working with our tremendous host church and local officials to take all measures needed to minimize any risks.

While situations continue to evolve, we anticipate that on-site at the Summit:

We will encourage all participants to understand and seriously consider all current MINSTRY OF HEALTH recommendations.

We will ask all participants to fully comply with local mandates.

In all of this, we encourage all MAM2023 participants to apply common sense measures: stay home if you don’t feel well, wash hands frequently, and consult with your health care provider with any questions.

Each of us today have unique situations and feelings about these matters. In the MAM community, there is much grace and understanding for all. While we would love for all of us to be together for MAM2023, each must proceed based on their own sense of wisdom and comfort levels. Our deepest desire is to see you thriving in body, mind and spirit, rooted deep in the love of God.
